Follow the Signs

As I briefly stated in other posts, I didn’t have the intention of writing a biography or memoir. In fact, I couldn’t have told you what the differences are between them. I’m glad I didn’t know. I believe if I had known, my writing wouldn’t have been as honest or freeing. I wrote what flowed out from my conscious, and if it didn’t make sense it didn’t matter because I was going to bury the manuscript in my junk drawer. The universe had other plans.

It was if the universe knew what I was meant to do before I knew. Before I had started writing, a few friends had remarked I should tell my story. I dismissed the idea. When I started writing my story, more people told me I should release it. When I asked people if they would be interested in reading the story, they said yes.

The Law of Attraction says whatever you put your focus on, more of it will come to you. For me, it came in as coincidences. The first was when I found myself in an art class with two other handicapped people. The occurrence forced me to be honest in telling my story to strangers, it was the first time I had done such a thing. The second coincidence occurred when a coworker had mentioned he was writing a book and asked if I wanted to join him to a book writing workshop. The workshop gave me the road map on what I needed to do.

“I am open to the guidance of synchronicity and do not let expectations hinder my path.” – Dalai Lama

So, what’s my point here? My point is, I felt like I got caught in a wave of energy that carried me through to finish my memoir, no matter that I didn’t know the rules of writing a book. It felt as if the story was larger than me but that I needed to see it to fruition. I don’t know if everyone has experienced something as persuasive, that drives them with unrelenting energy, but if you, the reader feels it, then my advice is to remain open minded and ask if your direction is for the greater good? Is it grounded on compassion, kindness and understanding? If so, then listen to the universe and bring your passion to where it is needed. You may surprise yourself, like I had done when I realized I had completed a memoir.

“This is called synchronicity – a state in which you almost feel as if you are in a collaborative arrangement with fate.” – Wayne Dyer
