Creating a meaningful life takes courage…

Paul was a young boy, who enjoyed the southern California desert, where he roamed as a free spirit. He was preparing to play high school baseball before his plans were cut short. A drunk driver stuck him and his cousin nearly head on while they were on a motorcycle.

The doctor told Paul's parents he wouldn't survive the night, but after two months in traction, Paul returned home before he underwent more surgeries and rehabilitation. Physically he wasn't the same.

Adapting to his condition, Paul struggled to find his place. He tried to form relationships but found his physical limitations hampered his trust in people. It turned worse after a meaningful relationship ended with the words, "You're gutless, not man-enough and unable to take care of a woman."

The physical trauma, turned into emotional and spiritual trauma. Paul sought answers to find courage, love and a meaningful life. As a last resort, he examined his own beliefs and sought a path toward gratitude, happiness and unconditional love to find healing.

The healing began….

The healing began when Paul had grown exhausted from the anger, hate and fear that had deceptively controlled his life. He had reached a point after the accident, having lost too much to find any joy in living, to acquire a gun and end the pain.

A friend once told Paul, “You seem to go down the toilet, maybe you should do something creative, like write.” Paul thought it was a good idea and set on writing a suicide note. He began writing, and wrote, and wrote. He continued writing until he completed a book.

After numerous rewrites, Paul was no longer tired. In the process of writing he had exposed the effects of his anger, hate and fear, and found a new quest for his life - inner peace!

In sharing his story, Paul has received messages from his readers on how they have gained a better understanding of themselves and loved ones who have experienced trauma in their lives.

To help others find understanding, and a path to healing, is where Paul now finds his joy.
